Gill Rests on Experience for New Zealand's ODI Success
The young captain reflects on the challenges of stepping into the leadership role while dealing with injuries, emphasizing the importance of staying focused and adapting to the limited opportunities.
"It's never easy, especially when you're injured and watching your team play. It's frustrating, especially when you've just been named captain. You want to do so much, but you have to stay focused on what you can control in that moment and build from there."
With a tight schedule and the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in mind, Gill highlights the need to make the most of every ODI series. He stresses the importance of fine-tuning team combinations and assessing players' conditions to prepare for the tournament.
"Every series we play has a goal, with the World Cup in mind. We need to evaluate players and their conditions to determine the best combinations for each match. With fewer ODIs, we have to make the most of every opportunity to get the right players in the right shape."
This approach is crucial for New Zealand's success in the highly competitive cricket world.
